10k at 10k

Oh my man, kill me now! Today I ran the 10k at 10k with my dad and stepmom. This race was up in Fairview Canyon, it was a 10k at 10,000 feet elevation. I just ran a freaking marathon so naturally I thought running a little over 6 miles would be piece of cake... WRONG. The first 2 miles are straight up hill, I'm not exaggerating. No flat or downhill road for freaking 2 miles. Not to mention the altitude kicked my trash and I could not breathe one bit. Yuck. I was light headed and my quads were burning the entire race.

For some reason I'm excited to do it next year. Maybe it's the fact that the stupid 10k beat me, I don't know. But next year, I WILL conquer that race.

Thursday will be bitter sweet. It's my last day at the Russe and I am going to miss it like crazy. I received a job offer with Vanity and couldn't pass up the chance to have my own store again. What I'm going to miss most is working with these girls. We've had so many long nights and crazy times!

Happy 4th of July Weekend!!!

What a weekend! Of course Utah doesn't completely celebrate the 4th on Sunday so instead we got a whole weekend of fun!

Friday Night: Drive-In with Cody and Krista... saw Knight and Day and somehow managed to convince the guys to see Eclipse too!

Saturday Night: Brian barbecued then we met up with Cody, Krista, Brett, and Hope for the Pleasant Grove fireworks and then some of our own!

Sunday: Amazing day at church, played games with Brian's family then dinner, a movie, and fireworks at my family's house!

I am so grateful to live in this country and I am proud to be an American!!!

Of course we took Zoe with us everywhere so she was beat at the end of every night. Here she is trying to look at me but she can't quite keep her eyes open :)

Runnin' With My Daddy!!!

I did it! I completed my second marathon... only 5 hours and 12 minutes! Ha ha not the greatest but I beat my last time by 18 minutes so I'll take it :) Brian told me he would give me $1000 if I kept up with my dad the whole time so I did... but all I got was breakfast. Don't worry, I won't forget about that next time I want to buy something :) It was fun running with my daddy until about mile 14 when I started to slow down and he was just like, "Get up here, you're lagging behind!" I was so tired but didn't get any sympathy from him, it was a great bonding experience though! Thanks to everyone who came to support, it was so fun having everyone there at the finish line!!!

Vibrant Fruit Salsa!!!

Yummy recipe! Kind of takes a lot of time to finely chop but well worth it!

1 cup strawberries, finely chopped
1 orange, peeled, seeded,and finely chopped
3 kiwis, peeled and finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh pineapple,finely chopped
2 green onions, finelychopped
1/4 cup yellow or green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice

Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.

Amazing workout. I wanted to die... at one point during the video she even said, "I want you to feel like you are going to die!" There are 3 levels so it's great for everyone. I started on level 2 cuz I thought I was somewhat in shape... NOT!!! I found it on ebay for like 7 dollars! Seriously, go get it.

May Update

So obviously I haven't blogged for a while, here is what we've been up to.

First: We were able to skype with Riley on Mother's Day! It was so fun! He is seriously hilarious, he is such a little nerdy nerd and so unbelievably happy. He has definitely changed, grown up quite a bit. I miss him so much but I know he's where he needs to be.

Second: It was my birthday on the 15th!!! And dun dun dun... I got a bike!!! The cutest bike ever! For my birthday we went to Boondocks with some amazing friends and had tonz of fun! Everyone couldn't fit in the picture but it was me and Brian, Craig and Natalie, Hope and Brett, and Cody and Krista!

Then that weekend we rode up Provo trail with my family. It was so fun, I felt like a little kid all over again!

Third: We have been riding our bikes everywhere (Brian got one for his amazing gpa). Last Sunday we rode to the park and had a picnic with our Zoe. She absolutely loves the park, however she's not such a fan of riding in the basket :) We also rode our bikes to the movie theater on Thursday to see Shrek! It was so cute, and a must see in 3D!


Coming Up: June 12th, 2010, Utah Valley Marathon. My goal is to beat my previous time of 5 1/2 hours... pitiful, I know.
